Martha's farm hosts a vibrant gathering as Millicent Wangari Waweru, Patricia Henry, Martha Wambui Muriuki, and Andrew Mwangi Warugi celebrate a fruitful harvest with freshly picked produce.

Outcomes is one way to measure the effectiveness, efficiency and the intent of a policy.

Some of the outcomes that we have achieved are beyond the projected ones. 

Martha is one of the small-scale farmers who has benefited from a 5-week soil health module that has guided her in the journey of restoring the Agíkúyú indigenous cultural foods.

Martha has consistently shared her story over and over again about how she has benefited from the Agíkúyú vegetables, pumpkins, yams and bananas that she has restored in her farm, granary and on the plate. She grows these foods using the Agíkúyú indigenous farming practices, which don’t use synthetic fertiliser, pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and other synthetic farm inputs.

Martha has consistently suffered from gastrointestinal tract disorders: Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Consuming the Agíkúyú indigenous cultural foods has cured her. In her words, “I don’t even know what I can say to you (Patricia), you have brought us medicine in our farms... now I can eat and not get acid - Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). These stories are outcomes of the work that we have achieved since July 2024. Now, Martha is a healthy, productive small-scale farmer who is an inspiration to her neighbours who want to be trained as well. 

The journey to restoring the Agíkúyú indigenous cultural foods continues. Our stories matter because nutrition matters!
